have a 2010 diesel qashqai and its not starting. (Registered June 2010) 51K on the clock

1st time got the AA out and they took 2 hours and it was showing no electronic faults but couldn't get it going but then as he was arranging towing decided to pump the black bulb until it got hard and it started. Left it running for a bit to charge the battery and headed off.

Over the next 10 days it went from starting first go to having to pump to starting and stalling then pumping to get it to go.

Then it spent a week in an Airport longstay car park and no amount of pumping got it going. Got towed to a local garage who (the AA get their vans serviced) they couldn't get it started but diesel was reading 0 so put a £10 for the gauge to jump to half a tank and it still didn't start

They then changed the fuel filter, Battery as it was 7 years old and it had lost charge over night, checked the fuel gauge sender probe and tank to which there was over half a tank of diesel. And hey presto it start for them first go a couple of hours apart.

The Garages comment was its not right when it starts it just doesn't have the right roar when it first turns over our suggestion is to get shot of it as it would now need to be a Nissan repair and you could be £2K down and it still not be fixed.

Needless to say 24 hours later Im back to hand priming.

Thoughts if it went to Nissan (dealership is 40 miles away) would they be able to fix it it (is it a known issue) and any idea of cost.

Should it be replaced, Fear is trade in price may drop as when its inspected that suddenly it wont start.

Wife is saying get it repaired then trade it in

Phone estimate for trade in at a Nissan dealer was around £5K - £5.5K, (He was also offering scrappage and a deal on a second hand leaf) while a non running offer from a website was £3K
