Hi could anyone tell me if the 2011 2.0dci has a dpf light that comes on either on start up or if blocked . I see the light symbol on the dash but its a bit confusing on the forums as to whether it is needed as the 2011 model is supposed to be active regeneration i believe. I have engine management light on and error code of P242F so it needs a regen but the dpf light never came on !!!!

No, none the wiser to whether my light is supposed to come on or not , it comes on when I turn on the ignition but I don't know if it supposed to come on when blocked ???

When you car has warmed up, start getting the revs up as you go through the gears. I'm NOT saying rag the ba*ls off it! but make it work for a few miles I used to do this with my 8.25 turbo and added a fuel line cleaner at the same time.

So active regeneration may not have happened, what I'm talking about is called passive regeneration

Basically it blows the cobwebs, carbon and soot from the system

unfortunately the car went into limp mode so no chance of passive regen !! but I thought the light would have come on to tell me to go and do a passive regen before the engine management light came on !!!

P242F/009263 - Diesel Particulate Filter (Bank 1): Restricted/Clogged

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON
Possible Causes
Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) restricted/clogged
Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Engine related Fault Codes / Problems
Check Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) Load
Perform Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) Service Regeneration
Special Notes
Depending on the Model Year and/or if the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) has been replaced already, different Generations of the Filter may be installed. If in doubt, check the Filter Part Number. Generation 2 (DPF2) were 2E0-254-700-E and 2E0-254-700-F, while Generation 3 (DPF3) were 2E0-254-700-G/GX.
Check Engine Control Module (ECM) Software Level and installed Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) Part Number/Generation. Information on the latest Software Versions can be found in TPI 2020740 (DPF2) and TPI 2020722 (DPF3).
When Replacing a DPF2 with DPF3, the Engine Control Module (ECM) Software Version must be updated as well. Operating a DPF2 with DPF3 Software or vice versa will damage the DPF. For Details see TPI 2015609.
If the Vehicle is used mainly for Short Trip/Distance Driving , consider applying the special Short Trip/Distance Software as described in TPI 2018140.

On this subject,does the 1.5 have passive or active regeneration? I have a dpf fitted and run it on low ash SAPS oil,dose of millers eco-max and it runs like a dream but i'm not sure on the dpf fitted.Thankyou.

it's been in limp mode 3 times in 5 days gone back to garage for a forced regen and they say its fine now , only had it 3 weeks , but like I say no warning light came on to tell me it was blocked in the first place , I am taking it back to Nissan for a recall tomorrow on my way home from collecting so I will ask them about the short journey software

Not sure about the 1.5. OP said his 2011 2.0 dci is active regen, but a lot can change a short time ?
I just use my additive and put the car through the Italian tune up.... ( love that name)

The SAPS oil and millers are probably doing their job. I'm a forte fan... I use their DFC diesel fuel conditioner... Have done for years, and their additives for petrol cars.

Got car back today . So far so good . Spoke to nissan and all 2009 and beyond models have the new ecu software for short journeys. One thing i have noticed is my revs are a little low on idle (around 650) and less when cold !!! Any ideas much appreciated as nissan didnt seem to know alot about it

Garage done a regen and nissan done the engine bearing recall . The revs were low before but i thought it was because of the blocked dpf . They drop when you dip the clutch and will go up to 750 if you gently tap the pedal

Sometimes when you dip the clutch it will briefly drop to 500 then creep back up ??

Trying to get my old diagnostics head back on.

Do the revs drop if you knock into neutral without dipping the clutch?

Does it happen under heavy breaking ?

Egr blocked ? Air in fuel line,/pump, dirt in fuel line ,injector dirty or blocked

Crank shaft speed sensor duff.

I will try the neutral thing today , I thought something maybe blocked so I have added some Wynn's diesel power 3 to my fuel , can't hurt

I was thinking about it last night whilst trying to sleep :-((' thought maybe clutch playing up or sensor on flywheel, it's hard when the car is miles away .

You know.... If it's not shaking and threatening to cut out I wouldn't be too worried about it.
