    Posted: 07 Aug 2013 at 9:01pm
Im in line for a nice early birthday present next Monday, my parents have struggled with what to buy me this year so I have decided to have a remap on my trusty 1.5 diesel, Im having a proper map done based on my cars current map and not a generic one.  Having looked at the gains it will be almost 30bhp increase with around 50nm of torque, really wanted it for economy to be honest as we have our first child arriving soon so hoping to save some pennies.  I know remaps are a marmite subject but I know from experience if done correctly will benefit me.

will a remap affect warranty or all you all getting them done when warranty is up?

and does it affect insurance? do ypu have to notify them as a 'modification'?

If you have a warranty then this would probably void it, I dont have a warranty with mine so does not affect me, concerning insurance I will be notifying mine and have already been told its going to cost 25 quid to add it as a modification

That's very reasonable, actually, given the performance increase.

If mine wasn't a company car, I would definately have got this done.

Isn't there a guy/company on here who sells cheap insurance to QQ club members because "enthusiasts" can get better deals?

Maybe worth asking in his thread what his company thinks about remaps and the affect it has on insurance.

If you buy a bluefin from superchips then you can remove the remap before the car goes for a service, Then once the car is back from nissan just install the remap again, Good for when your qq is in warranty

Im having my fathers car done at the same time so getting a slightly better deal, 225 + vat each, and these maps are designed around your individual car and not generic

Ok so the car has been remapped, ive gained 25 bhp and 50 nm of torque and have to say its made a difference, acceleration is nice an smooth and you can feel a bit of extra power, its nice to overtake without changing down a gear. Mpg will take time to work out but certainly expecting 3-4 mpg extra. Is it worth it, well in my opinion yes it is.

I would say your right, car manafacturers like to have different cars specs in different tax and insurance brackets to appeal to a wider market

It's not only a renault engine. It is a coalision between nissan and Renault. Some parts are from nissan, and some parts from Renault.

About the EGR valve... Just do it. The car runs alot more smooth and the MPG is higher too.
No more damaged intake, no more problems with the EGR valve, the engine oil is cleaner and so on.

Ok so a little update after having the remap for a couple of weeks, after doing a couple of fills ups I am now averaging 4 mpg more than I was before, this is with usual day to day running to work, shops etc.  We will be going to Wales next week for a few days so hopefully that will be a better test on a run.  Impressions are still good and the car is running beautiful.  I am possibly looking at an egr blank now as from the comments above it improves the engine no end, will have to see how the funds go but our first child will be born in a couple of months so money is scarce.

I'm thinking about getting mine remapped from a lad Down in Leeds. I got my 2.2 Diesel civic remapped with EGR off and was getting 40extra BHP and 10 more MPG. He says with his remap for QQ ill get 35 extra BHP but only 4-6 extra MPG :( He currently cant turn EGR off either which was what i really wanted. I don't know if I can justify £250 for just 4-6 extra mpg (depending on driving style). I dont NEED the extra bhp as I've got the 150bhp Tekna but it would be nice haha Are you glad you got yours done?

Keeping an eye on the thread. See how you get on.

We had our 123d remapped. Took it from 215hp to 270hp! Drove amazing after and no faults etc. Really annoyed some considerable motors after ;) Whilst I know the ntec+ wont benefit nowhere near, a little extra would be just dandy.

We did notify insurers and whilst it did increase the premium it was a nominal amount. It was about a 23% power increase after all lol.

My other half only did it so he could keep up with my 130
