    Posted: 18áMará2017 at 9:00pm
Hi all

I've just had my beloved serviced today (Major as she's 4), now when I've read the paper work the dealer hasn't changed the fuel filter
So my question is should they have? It says in the service book that they should have.
On the plus side they haven't charged me for it!

Thanks

Aiden

Yes it should be part of the major service for all diesel cars which is roughly every second service. I have mine changed at every service each year and always make sure it is a genuine Nissan one.

It's probably not included in the cost of a service, I think Nissan charge either ú40 or ú60 for fuel filter change.

My mechanic always suggests replacing it every year.

Hope this helps.

Was the fuel filter by chance changed last time?
The cost for replacing the filter, ought to be included in the cost of service. The part (the filter) itself has to be paid extra.

I don't understand how a part so important as a fuel filter isn't changed as standard!
So now I have a fuel filter that is 4 years old and could be putting extra pressure on the whole fuel system e.g fuel pump and injectors.
It's plain madness not to even suggest that it should be changed.

Nissan's maintenance schedule explicitly states, that the fuel filter has to be checked and has to be emptied of water after 12 months or 12,500/18,750 miles (whatever comes first) and has to be replaced after 24 months or 25,000/37,500 miles (whatever comes first), etc. etc.
The maintenance schedule ought to be glued into the first two pages of the service check book (the booklet where the dealer has to confirm with stamp, signature and mileage when the maintenance (and which) took place)

Thanks Udo2009

Yes your right, the maintenance schedule is in the service book which states every two years (That's how I suspected it needed changing) and the dealer has stamped the last 4 services as being completed, but on the tick list the mechanic fills in the fuel filter section hasn't been ticked on any of the services.

Remember to get an official Nissan fuel filter as the third party ones are known to cause faults/problems with some Nissan engines. I can vouch from personal experience that it is worth the few extra pounds to get official Nissan fuel filter. Sometimes just as cost effective to buy it from your Nissan dealer parts dept.

If fitting it yourself then remember to pump up fuel line after replacement!

So I rang the dealers today...
Apparently its Nissan's fault for changing the service plans since the new QQ came out.
The diesel filter needs changing every 36k.
I asked for some kind of new service list and received this if anyone is interested

That is helpful to know, I guess the new Qashqai J11 is now every third service.

This was the original Nissan service line for the original J10 Qashqai:

Fuel Filter - Diesel - 2 years / 25k - Drain at each service

It was always listed as an additional cost on top of the major service total from the charts I have.
