Guys, many thanks for taking the time to respond to all my questions.  I'm hoping to pick the car up in the next couple of days and I'm sure the knowledge picked up on this site already will stand me in good stead.  I've even turned into a bit of an anorak and downloaded the manual (from another thread on the forum), read it and am now re-reading it so I can play with all the gadgets properly lol.

Thanks again
John

Hi yes it did they recon between 3 & 5% beter consumption and power its just the standard swop, i wanted an induction filter but they dont do one for the 2.0 petrol, they were willing to produce one but you need to cut the mass air sensor off the air box

Here are the stats that i have for my 1.6 n-tec petrol. I mainly drive using the cruise control at about 64 on the motorway or 3000 revs. I do occasionally put my foot down though.

I'm jealous now!  I've seen Hayseed Dixie a few times - the best time was at Cannizaro Park near Wimbledon.  They're a great live act. Big smile

not sure if you were joking here but just to mention what has been posted before , 6th gear should only be used above 60/70 or it will actually drink more fuel Wink

that whole thing is a waste of nissans time and money imo , depending on your needs the right time to change gear differs so how can anyone say when is best  , 6th will drink you tank empty in no time if used at 40 aff , its just set at 2500rpm as standard but i wouldnt take a blind bit of notice of it and personally it would drive me mad as i know its wrong Angry

just lookin at the QQ orders/deliveries, i reckon Nissan will stop making the Petrols cos the 1.5s out number all the Petrols by over 10-1 !!!...Confused

Ok after resetting the MPG on the QQ+2, 2L petrol CVT FWD.
Reset reading was about 25mpg ish and has now risen to just over 30mpg. The QQ was serviced recently so the mpg is nearly back to the original reading before it was reset.
Still very happy with the drive of the +2. Very quiet and relaxing Thumbs Up

I did a Manual check on my 2.0L+2 petrol before we came away...The Comp. display was reading around 28MPG and my manual Calculation came to around 26MPG...Note that was Predomanantly Urban driving (small trips 5 miles to work and back) Over a period of 4 Weeks.. We are away on hols so are doing more long distance driving so the Comp display at the Mo is reading 36MPG (avge) for the Trip so far..Smile

Did you reset it for the trip Affy?  Someone a few months back said the reading is more accurate when you reset it.  Now I understand what they mean but the wording might have been confusing it is not 'More accurate' is is just more sensitive to change.

If you have done 3,000 miles without resetting the trip computer which is telling you that you are at 40mpg, then driving 20 miles at 60mpg will not even register on the MPG value.  Whereas if you recently reset it 100 miles ago, averaging 40mpg, then 20 miles at 60mpg would maybe shift your MPG value to something like 44mpg.

I have noticed that the Qashqai+2 that I drive is very sensitive to speed in terms of fuel consumption. Tootle along at 45mph and you might see 60mpg. Speed it up to 60mph and you won't see much more than 30mpg. Has anyone else noticed this?

Obviously this effect is common to all cars (the faster you go, the more fuel you use) - but it does seem particularly pronounced in the Qashqai +2. I don't have sufficient experience of regular Qashqai's to comment on them. However i'd imagine it's likely to be a similar story. I guess this may be because it's not a terribly aerodynamic shape* and, of course, energy requires to overcome aerodynamic drag increases as the square of the airspeed.

* By which I mean it's an SUV - as SUVs go it's pretty darn good. But no SUV is going to win awards for aerodynamic efficiency as they're simply the wrong shape and if you made them a different shape they probably wouldn't be SUVs any more.
