I think 67mph-ish is the sweet spot for mpg as far as this engine goes, which is what you were doing at the time.

I just had my first proper UK holiday since I got the QQ in January.   300 miles down the M6/M5/M4 from Manchester to Tenby.  I normally go about 80 but decided to go for optimal mpg so set the cruise at 70mph and chilled out.

I was amazed that I reached 100 miles and the first petrol mark hadn't even disappeared.  After 350 miles, still had well over half full so could have been on for an 800 mile tank if I'd just turned round and come straight back.

Unfortunately, the subsequent week of 200 miles around Pembrokeshire driving on winding country lanes , steep hills in 2nd gear, etc, made a big dent in it so when I filled up at the end of the week at 550 miles (with 4 marks left on the petrol bar) I calculated my usage at 48.8mpg.
