I have a Qashqai 2wd 2.00 CVT Auto which will be due for change in the near future. I haven't been happy with the fuel consumption as I only average 31mpg.
1) I wondered if anyone could tell me what the actual fuel consumption is you are getting on a 1.6 2wd Auto as Nissan figures state it is better than the 2.0 by 7mpg?
2) What is the performance like on the 1.6 Auto?

is this a petrol 2.0?
I saw few people posted their 2.0 petrol consumption is from 7.8l/100km(36mpg), 8.2(34.45), 11(25.68).
31mpg that is 9l/100km and it is quite ok. It is known petrol engine consum a 1-2l more than a 2.0dci.
Whit my 2.0dci I am average on 7.0l/100km -40.35mpg

VOSA say 55.4mpg for the 1.6 dci, I reckon on getting 75pc of that. But the 1.6 DCI isn't available with an Automatic (the auto diesel is the 2.0 diesel, which struggles to top 30mpg), so I don't think that answers the question.

Since Qashin asked about the "1.6 auto" I guess that means the petrol CVT unit. For which Vosa record 44.1mpg, Combined. Working on my assumption of achieving 75 percent of claimed economy I would imagine you'd get somewhere between 30 and 40 mpg.

The source of all knowledge on this is here;

http://carfueldata.direct.gov.uk

Performance is subjective, of course. But I wouldn't buy one, too torque fighting too much mass and frontal area. No, thanks.

Wow. I'm lucky to get 34mpg with my 1.6 diesel. Manual, dci model. But then I use it for three mile journeys four times a week so not too bothered. My triumph street triple motorbike gets slightly better, even when I'm riding fast.

Actually, I would say 34mph is pretty good for that kind of driving.

Hi Qashin. This info is for a manual, not an automatic. Take a look at my stats for the past 2 years. I hope it helps.

Thanks 18Days, That is significantly better than my 2.0 petrol. Can I confirm that is a 1.6 petrol? Thanks.

Hi Qashin,

Yes it is for a 1.6L Petrol (59) N-tec.
Please be aware that a lot of my driving is on the motorway at 60mph. Not all of it, but the majority.

I'll follow this thread rather than start a new one - and move it if its not spotted!

I'd like some real world figures for MPG and towing weights for the following models, so if you guys could oblige - I'd be very grateful.

Qashqai 4x4
Qashqai +2
Qashqai +2 4x4

many thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Hi Gadget...I'm getting a consistent 54 mpg for my 4x4 (1.6dci).
Thats a daily commute on motor way of 40 miles and about 20-30 miles stop/start journeys through out the day. The best I got on a long run was over 58 but I had a heavy foot

I second that!! 54 is VERY good.

In short I'm thinking of trading up to a 4WD version....
Our 1.5 2WD is averaging 42 but it has a very low tow weight (1100kgs) and I have to admit, I got stuck at the weekend!!

I'd love 4WD again.
I can't afford new and it will also depend if I can attain approx 40mpg and will also depend on the towing capability....

I have the 2.0 diesel QQ+2 4WD in automatic and on motorways in 4WD mode get 40mpg which am very happy about, would probably get a bit more when in 2WD mode. That was with four occupants and boot full of luggage! I reckon 30-35mpg in town, again very happy with that.

Thats not bad going for an automatic - and as you say, in two wheel drive mode (which it would be in most of the time) and being a manual (what I'd like) I reckon I could creep to the nearer 40 mark in town!
Don't suppose you know the towing capability of yours??

From memory I think max towing weight for our vehicle is 1300kg, unable to find exact amount in car manual but will look again to confirm.

Tx Guys - so in short, whether it be a 1.6dci or 2.0dci, 5 seat or 7 seat, the 4WD models can tow 1400kgs (unless auto).

Interesting how a 4WD can pull an extra 300kg over mine.

So choices to be made now.... find a 4WD thats going to probably cost me an extra 2-2.5k in finance but gives me the freedom of 4WD and greater towing options for the horse, or spend 30 on traction tracks for those times I do get stuck and invest the extra cash in a new single horse trailer!!

    Decisions decisions!
