We only knew something was wrong two months later when the battery was flat and it wouldn’t start. The dashcam was not shutting down at all even when it was locked .the dashcam was plugged into the front twelve volt adapter socketHas anyone had a similar experience and what to do about it?

The front 12v socket is always live. The one in the armrest shuts down after you turn the ignition off.

You don't say which version yours is. My 2015 Tekna had a switched armrest socket and everyone else has reported it so too for a J11A

------------------------------------dont take this the wrong way but the car does have to be locked before it will turn off.

I tested both the sockets on mine in detail - the armrest one turned off after about 45 seconds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------to be honest after reading other threads i think this is a nissan thing and you end up with a hit and miss situation(some will, some wont).
dont ask me why.i have known other things  said on this forum that some do and some dont.as i say thats nissan for you.

My other Nissan is the same set up, front socket remains live and flattens the battery.

Just fitted a Nextbase Dashcam to my 67 plate J11 N Connecta and was a bit worried about the front socket staying live - it did shut down but took a few minutes - a bit longer than you would think.
