hi folks

Hope you can help. I've bought a 2014 Qasqai+2 and so far am very happy with it. There are one or two things however that I'd like to ask

I'd like to be able to play music from the usb port under the armrest. I've found the USB connectivity to be very inconsistent. I've tried three different USB keys with varying results. what I find is that if I pug in a new key it will detect it (not always) and will allow me browse all files and play my tunes. If I stop the car after a spin and then restart there is a high likelihood that the aux will have lost the USB connectivity. If I unplug the flash drive and plug it in again, it will not detect it. If I format that key and try it again it will probably detect it again.

I've tried three different flash drives now, a 16GB and 2 x 8GBs. It wont detect one of the flash drives at all,  the other two inconsistently, I've been formatting them to FAT32, I;ve read some forum posts suggesting formatting to NTFS but the same threads would usually say it didnt make any difference. I've also trimmed the amount of folders an songs in the flash drives just in case that is an issue,

any advice would be appreciated.

The Connect unit is rather picky regarding USB-sticks. Size doesn't necessarily matter, but make. The Connect is not compatible with USB 3 - they have to be USB 2 sticks.

However, even when a stick works perfectly, there'll come the day when the stick isn't recognized by the Connect any more. The sticks work perfectly well connected to a computer, but no way the Connect will recognize them ever again...

Udo thanks for your reply.
so is there any particular recommended make/model/size which is gauranteed to work with the connect? I dont mind buying one or two if I know theyre gonna work. I've already tried three differnet types, none of which work all the time. I dont want to buy more if there is an even chance they;ll be no better.

found this on the forum recommending the below flash drives. I'll probably try a 32GB one

The OP has a 2014 so I'm guessing J11 which is fully compatible with USB 3.

I did use the cruzer fit 32gb on my J10, but since I went to a J11 this is the one I use so I can fit more on...

Oh, ok, missed the +2.   Still, it was worth pointing out for anyone reading this thread with a J11...

I presume the J11 thing refers to the type of engine does it?
Mine is a 1.6 diesel, not sure what J code that makes it.

J10 is the Nissan code for the Qashqai built from 2008 till mid 2013, J11 is the Nissan code for the Qashqai built from mid 2013 till present...

Hmm, according to that the +2 discontinued in 2013.  So I'm curious about the 2014 +2 mentioned in the OP.

Built in 2013, registered in 2014, is my guess.

Yes, on a J11 you can use whatever you want.  I started using USB2 32Gb which I'd had in my previous Qashqai, then wanted more space so now use a USB3 64Gb.   Both worked great.

Well as mentioned earlier I am currently using this when I wanted to go to 64gb...

(there are 16gb,32gb versions as well).

It's quite bulky compared to a lot of others, but on the J11 with it being vertical at the back of the storage space, that makes no difference.

Thanks.
I assume you format the stick in FAT32 before downloading any data.

Yes it needs to be FAT32, but I think the stick came pre-formatted like that, which was good because windows only allows you to format up to 32gb as FAT32 unless you go via other methods...

Many thanks, that information was really useful.
I am trying to download an update about speed cameras from PocketGPSWorld and all I get is USB Device Detected and No Audio Files on the screen.
The system is Connect3 so maybe I should get a new SD stick as the downloads worked OK when my Qashqai had the Connect1 system. With that system I just had Copying Files and Uploading on the screen and it took about 3mins to complete.

Got a Toshiba Memory stick and made some progress.
Got as far as ‘Copying my POIs to the System. Please wait.....’
However the bar is missing so not sure how much, if any, has been copied.
Will check locally but not convinced anything more than a bleep and camera logo
will appear on Connect 3 screen.
To be continued.....

well I got that flash drive. It comes with some software preinstalled, for encrypting the contents if you wish I think. I deleted that software and copied on 2 or 3GB of music. I tried it in the car but had no joy. I can see the led on the flash drive light up momentarily but the connect never detects it.

I fomatted the flash drive to Fat32 (it was already FAT32) and copied on one album. I tried again but had the same result. The LED lights up momentarily on the flash drive but the connect does not detect it.

I'm a bit sickened to be honest. Its something I would use all the time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you both for your comments.
I am using a Toshiba Memory stick so don’t know if comments about Sandisk Cruzer apply.
Also I have Connect3 system which I am now told by Nissan Customer Services needs a different Download procedure.
I am going to try it later in week. Fingers crossed.

One other point can anyone using the Connect 3 system confirm that when a speed camera is located they get a
Screen width banner with warning text contained therein?
