Had a puncture repaired, OK. Was asked if I wanted tyres filled with nitrogen. £2.40 per tyre and free top ups for life of the tyres. Various claims made. Anyone had experience of this ?

I have mine with nitrogen because being mostly inert when it's under pressure It doesn't react with aluminium rims and the pressure doesn't vary with temperature as much as air.Wink
If it aint broke make it go faster.

Cant see it really being of any great benefit on our cars. High performance cars where tyres are pushed on a track for example then yes i think its worth it.

The "normal" atmosphere contains 78.1 % nitrogen... Whether these 21.9 % difference to pure nitrogen make a recognizable difference ... ?

This us what was said
Compressed air that is usually used to inflate your tyres contains Water, Water vapour and Oxygen, which attacks the wheel rims and shortens the useful life of the rubber.

In a survey carried out by Sussex police, 73% of all cars checked had incorrect tyre pressures. Police also check the tyre pressures of every car involved in a road traffic accident in the UK. This data shows that 86% of vehicles involved in road traffic accidents have incorrect tyre pressures.

The Uniflate System carries out in milliseconds what happens in every tyre over a period of months. By filtering out the 'active oxygen' and water / water vapour, Nitrogen Inflation provides the tyre with a stable inflation mixture that has no desire to permeate (leak) out through the tyre's structure, causing a loss in tyre pressure.
