Have a diesel that is a year old second tome that the oil light has come on have done 12000 miles is this normal?

For a one year old car, this is not normal... With my 2.0 dCI I've done over 100,000 miles and never had to refill oil between services....

I’d go back to the dealer. Have you checked how much oil it’s using ?
