Where can you get POI for the connect system? I want to add all the supermarkets, national trust but can only find speed cameras.

Thanks
Ben

Ben,

Try here:

Select garmin csv as the format. I think that's what the connect system uses. As I haven't got my Q yet, perhaps others can confirm the format to use.

one thing that puzzles me is they say when you add speed cameras it overwrites current poi's so after adding them if i add other poi's will they overwrite the speed cameras ?????

Hi !

the system only removes the installed POIs... if you don't have the correct files there... you can work around the problem creating several files (.csv) with types of poi...speedcameras, gas stations, ....

in this moment I've two files: one with Mobile SpeedCameras and other with Speed Check Points...

in the root of a USB PEN Drive, create a folder named myPOIs inside this one another named myPOIWarnings

\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings

the .csv struct are like this:
-8.660597, 39.501204, "Radar A1 12..."
-8.930829, 39.092555, "Radar A1 12..."

you can get some POIs here:

This is great JM, I will be able to fill it with POIs just like my tomtom. I wonder if it starts to slow down like my tomtom when it displays POIs on the map (so you can see them as you drive past)?

Anyway, thanks for that. Did you pay the registration fee to that site so you can get descriptions?

Cheers,
Ben

many people have noted there is no icon just an audible warning ,dont think anyone has found a fix for this yet, i downloded safety cameras from garmin (csv file) and it came with the icon file but not sure if its the right format or whether it will show up till i get my qq in 17 days but if it works i'll let you know

Shame the POI does not appear on the map.

Heres how it works

Standard POI, are loaded into the Nissan connect and you can look through them in list form and then select one and choose to navigate to it.

Warning POI, these do not show up on the map either, instead you get a window pop up on the screen with a short beep when within the warning proximity of the POI.  window can be dismissed by touching the screen or it times out within a few seconds.

I have just registered for the GPS site and downloaded my pois (ready for Thursday Wink). Its not a very easy to use site, don't try selecting 'UK POI' for the category you're on, it brings up an error saying please go back and select location. Instead select England, Scotland, NI or Wales before you download.

The system type is Blaupunkt (i think).

I didn't get any speed camera one's so didn't use the poiwarnings folder.

Thanks,
Ben

Hello! I want to add speed cameras to the Connect system when I get my Qashqai.

So, I know that they will overwrite the existing POI places. What I am asking here is: Are there any POI places included on the Connect system when it is brand new? I am asking this because I don't wanna lose them when I put the speed cameras.

Or does the overwriting just mean the POI places that you have put yourself earlier? Thanks! Confused

it only overwrites your own. The user poi memory. So if you just update your USB drive it will put them all on together

The Connect system requires a CSV file as described above and in the Nissan Connect Manual.  The CSV file is the same format as what Garmin Use "Garmin POILoader".

You will have to download the CSV Format files and open them with notepad to check the layout.

Alternatively there are programs to convert .ov2 files into the CSV, you will have to search for one.

I searched the forums on that gps data website (linked above) and they suggested Blaupunkt which I think is the same format as Garmin meaning you can choose either.

Sorry about the quick answers above !!!

I've already use some file converters... but at the end the only thing I need is to copy the columns of a excel sheet to the right position.... :)

We can use any type of file... if converted to CSV;
The Garmin and Blaupunkt format are very similar: the garmin have some spaces between columns, the blaupunkt not!

I always check out my csv with a edition tool... notepad, excel, calc from openoffice.....

Regards,

So, does it matter what I will choose from the picture? I know it is CSV file that I must choose (Garmin..) but which of these CSV files. There is Expanded CSV, Spesified CSV (title data) and bare CSV.

Thanks! And sorry that I am so difficult. Ouch

err...ok another newbie question!

Just got my N-tec and its 'loaded' with POI's although I guess nothing too useful.

Main ones I want are Speed Cameras and Petrol Stations.

Being a little thick, do I just need to download them from a website (probably mentioned somewhere above) and then stick in my USB stick every time I use the sat nav and want to be warned of the cameras?

Or, does the system somehow upload them onto the Connect so I dont need to plug in the USB every time??

cheers

excellent...thanks Craigfish

So, I simply download the relevant files onto the USB stick and plug it in...the Connect system will auto upload them and use them?

Sounds too easy...I reckon I can stuff it up yet though!
