Hi,

Thanks for letting me join. We've just bought a 2012 Qashqai N-tech+, auto with 36k miles. The fuel economy we are getting KS terrible though and its struggling with even the slightest of inclines. We're getting 25mpg urban, 31 mixed miles (made up of half 60-70mph dual carriage and cou try roads.

I'm wondering if the two issues could possibly be linked. It's going in to the garage this week for them to have a look at it but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and what the solution was.

Many thanks for reading.

For such enquiries you need to add to forum signature so we know what engine you're talking about.

I bet it's a 1.2 engine. This is not an engine fit for the weight of a Qashqai ...

Nothing wrong with my 1.2 engine, it fits the bill perfectly for me and has plenty of power for normal everyday driving.

The 1.6L petrol only has 5 gears and is known to be of a poor MPG due to its eco engine.

1.2 engine is a great engine, just used mine to tow a heavy car on trailer over 200 mile round trip and had to watch my speed as it was easy to go over the limit, and achieved a very good mpg considering the weight and size of the car on the back.

Pleased to hear it rickuk Thumbs Up.

We 1.2ers need to speak up for this capable baby (on my 2nd now).  'Some people' Wink think you need a big dirty diesel, belching out toxic NOx poisoning everyone Nuke to get about.  Not these days.

In contrast, turbocharged petrol engines emit particulates/respirable dust which probably damages your health even more. And they emit more CO2 than a comparable diesel engine.

In light of global warming emitting more CO2 due to damning the Diesel engines is a very bad idea.

It starts now with the diesel engines... in a few years, when it'll come to light that the self-imposed temperature limit can't be reached, it'll be the petrol engines which will be forbidden...
