Hi All,

It's been a week since i have been driving my 2010 Qashqai and have still not been able to figure out the door locking mechanism from inside completely. I know how to use the Power Door Lock Switch to lock all the doors from inside but what i have noticed is that this only locks the doors such they cannot be opened from outside (also i believe called the anti-hijack mode). What i am not able to figure out is how to ensure that all the doors are locked from inside while the car is in motion. So this is what i have tried so far:

1) Get into the car and close all doors.
2) Switch On the engine.
3) Press the Power Door Switch for 10-15 seconds. A beep sound is heard and then i assume the drive-away door locking is triggered.
4) At this point - Its not possible for any of doors to be opened from outside.
5) Now i drive away and then have noticed that it is possible for the driver or the passenger to open their door from inside (while the car is in motion @ a speed > 20 MPH and Power Door Lock Switch Is ON).
I am sure there must be a way for all the doors of the QQ to be locked such that they cannot be opened for inside at least while the car is in motion. I have tried looking into the manual but haven't been able to find anything.

Would appreciate if someone can let me know about this.

Thanks in advance,

Ash

For safety reasons only the rear doors are able to be locked from the inside (using child locks) but not the front doors, otherwise this could entrap all the occupants in the event of an accident. As far as I'm aware anyway. I stand to be corrected.

I'd agree as well - flicking the switches on the rear doors to activate child locks on the rear doors is all that can be done.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments. I am now convinced it's a feature rather than a bug :-). Thats one more niggle checked out from my list.

You can set auto locking  so it locks when the car reaches 7mph, it doesnt do anything different just saves you pressing the button.

Iirc to activate/deactivate it you turn on the igntion then press & hold the lock button for 10 or 15 secs until you hear a beep.
