I took ownership of qq+2 five days ago. Everything seems ok so far. However , whenever I start the ignition in this cold mornings the starter motor seems to crank longer before starting the engine. This is quite different when start in the evening or restart within few hours of stationary.

Is this normal?

Yes.  Even when the coil indicator goes off, on a cold morning, it seems to chug a little longer than is comfortable before it turns over.

Try the glow plug two or three times, ie when the light goes out turn ignition  off then back on then wait for light to out again (& then again if necessary)

just thought I'd post here as we had similar issues with long turn overs on cold mornings.  Spoke to local independent garage and they suggested replacement glow plugs at cost of £120 parts and labour. I am very happy to report all is good and its starting on the button. Very pleased with price and result. For info,  qq has done 77000 and is a dec 2009 model
