just bought 2010 QQ 1.5dci N-Tec pure drive and have noticed a metallic scraping/hissing noise from wheels. its not the brakes binding or catching as wheels not heating up and the noise continues during breaking. any advice before I take it to a garage and get the TUT TUT HEAD SHAKING WITH A SHARP INTAKE OF BREATH routine. thanks

Check whether metal brake rotor cover does not touch a brake disc. It happens very often that car mechanics unwillingly push the brake rotor cover against the brake disc, which is then causing this noise (e.g. when replacing wheels/tyres).
You can easily check this and fix by hand without taking wheels off.

As duncho says check that but also I had this noise on our previous car and it turned out to be pebble/stone lodged between the disk and the metal disk brake cover, causing a hissing noise. Oh and the pebble was off our drive, same type of stone!!! Lol never had s problem after that! Good luck

Another thumbs up for this thread. I normally have my radio on loud, but for some reason it was off yesterday and my passenger window was open and I noticed my front wheel sounded like a shopping trolley going down a cobbled road.

I did have a new caliper/disk/pad on this wheel 6 weeks ago. Remembered this thread, prised my cover away from the disk and all is now quiet!
