Hi. A friend is fitting a detachable tow bar for me on my 2012 4wd qashqai and just wanted some advice. The 2 links below are the 2 tow bars I have narrowed it down to-

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F171816544392

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F181766612336

Is there any reason why either of these won’t fit my car? The description says it will fit the J10 2007-2013 models

Will the cheaper one require cutting part of the bumper off to be fitted or will it fit below the bumper. I presume the vertical fitting one will attach underneath the bumper.

I would prefer the cheaper one purely for the price or is it worth paring a bit extra for the vertical one? Thanks

I cant really give advice on the 2 you listed, but I fitted the one below last year. on looking it up, it is listing out of stock at the moment , but worth contacting them as I find it an excellent tow bar.

p.fjones on ebay had a great service and comms.

I also bought a plug and play lead for the electrics so no cutting/ splicing, just plugs into a connector already in boot.
only pain was removing bumper , but towbar kit  fitted perfectly and easily.

this is my post from last year - obviously only valid if you can get hold of the towbar  that's showing out of stock at the moment.

this is for anybody that is interested in having a tow bar on their J10 but cant afford to have it professionally  fitted, and wondering if they can do it themselves.

I fitted one with a detachable  swan neck from pf jones for £140
Manufacturer Part Number:
TNI091DT

and dedicated 7 pin electric loom from towbars UK for about £60
Code: 19140504

I was not willing to pay the extra £200+ to have it fitted for me , so I had a go myself.
both rear wheels off, the rear plastic wheel trims half off.
the longest part was removing the bumper. there is some good write ups on this site on tips.

the towbar iron work that fits to the chassis was an excellent fit and after sussing out all the brackets and captive nuts that was required to be fitted and where ,it was all pretty simple.

the electric 7 pin loom was easy to fit and plugged straight  into a connector in the left hand side of boot.
instructions were there to wire/solder (2 separate wires)in rear parking sensors if you have them. I didn't  as I have a reversing camera,
and also 1 single wire to solder into the main loom for the rear fog on whatever you're towing.
I didn't do that either as I don't have a fog light on my trailer and I didn't fancy cutting into the main rear loom either.
so one single plug and I was done.

it took me about 6 hours in a cramped garage, but i'm a bit slow and I had to take the bumper off again after refitting it completely because I didn't reconnect the fog light on bumper- arggghhhhh!!!!

I reckon I could easily do the complete fit in a couple of hours now, its not that difficult.

its my wifes car and she didn't want a visible tow bar normally.
its pretty well hidden without the detachable ball on it.
