34 MPG!!

Is this the lowest anyone has got?
This was done with 100 miles on the motorway and 80 in town. The value is also calculated as the QQ readout said 38 - a bit optomistic.

I have been trying to drive more economically, being smooth and progressive with my shifts, trying not to brake too much, and sticking to speed limits. Doesn't seem to have worked though.

It's never been this low before, might be a technical problem? I don't have a dpf though.

Nope, I am getting 41 MPG at the mo. To be expected as cold and i am only doing stop start short jpurneys in the town at the mo.

Havent reset the average mileage readout for at least 5k miles but the wee white bar is certainly showing MPG in late 50s on the motorway.

Yours does seem really low though... especially with no DPF.

My Juke was a 1.5dci and i got 34 MPG in the town, thats why i got shot of it....

Sorry Paul, have you tried resetting the trip and starting afresh?

Drove back from Wales at 38.6 mpg with a full load and roof box at between 70 and 85mph. 50% in town might be making a significant dent?

I'll be fully loaded for the return trip from London in a couple of minutes.

Let's see what I can do over the next 240 miles.

Fee - not been using the trip computer, I have an iphone app that calculates it for me every time I fill up.

never had less then 37/38 (proper calculated mpg) & all our driving is exremely short (5-6miles) journeys or town driving - good job it doesnt have a dpf LOL
It gets a 50ish mile rd trip for hospital visits every now & again.

34 does seem really low to me. I still get around 50 on my commute which is 25 mins of 30-40 mph speed limits, often with traffic :o/

34 does seem a bit low. I have a 2.0Dci Auto - and I get around 33mpg (indicated) nearly all the time with very mixed driving - Which is probably around 30mpg in the real world. I have had tanks where i've done a lot of Town driving where the indicated economy has ended up at 28mpg over an entire tank - Which is probably 25mpg in the real world. Youch.

If you've suddenly found your economy in the toilet then there are things you can do to deal with this. These include (but are not limited to) checking the air filter or air hose isn't blocked, checking the tyre pressures are not really low and checking to see if the Thermostat is functioning properly. Personally I plug in my el-cheapo ELM327 cable (15 quid on ebay!) for that, but watching the gauge on the dash as she heats up might give you a reasonable idea if the engine isn't reaching full temperature. Another indicator might be suddenly ineffective heating.

We've always averaged around 40-42 per tank - barr one which for some reason dropped to 38 last month and back up to 41 on the last tank... even a 180 mile motorway trip didn't push it up any further.
And nice to see Gemma back even if it is to boast about her 50mpg LOL

I've been lurking around; there just haven't been so many threads recently on which I've been able to offer anything constructive!

Well, got back early morning today (1am) and had a realtively easy drive, I'm guessing the weather put people off driving on the motorways as it was very quiet.

240 miles 99% motorway
Average Speed 61mph - never went over 70mph
Trip Computer = 48.5mpg
Calculated = 44.3mpg

Tyres Inflated properly, heating up fine and air filter clear.

When I first got the QQ and upto about 25k miles I would regurlarly achieve 50mpg+ sometimes 60mpg on the same trip as above.

Now I'm upto 32k miles the economy has dropped roughly 20%.

I reguarly used to get 51 mpg on most trips, but these days I just don't want to watch the mpg gauge all the time I just want to get places asap.  Typically now we are at 42 mpg whilst not trying, I know I can still get 50 out of mine but my 'normal' driving style won't get near it.  So my 'average' mpg has dropped but I'd say it is 80% down to driving style.

I was averaging 75 most of the way and got back 42mpg - stillseems lower than what I thought on a consistant run!

I have a 1.5d N-Tec today I did a 111 mile trip back roads towns and some dual carriage way I filled to the neck before leaving and refilled at end.
Gauge showing 54.85 actual 52.25.
I have no complaint I will normally be above speed limits on good roads / dual carriage ways or motorways. The worst its been in the 12500 miles since I got it in April 2011 was 43.07 no explanation why.
Speedway is the best.

Let us know how you get on Paul - just done another tank and its 38!!! Not impressed.
I'm due at the garage sometime next week for them to look at my wheels (again - and another story) so I'll be mentioning it!

Now that more like it - very good figure indeed - if I could mid to late 40's I'd be happy!!
